OPERATION “HELENA” Leg 1

Background:

The SAVAF fighter pilots have arrived safely on St Helena Island. Rest time is over and it is time to make our presence known.

The SAVAF heli sqn have been tasked to perform a safety and lock down tour around the island.

The Squad are to fly around the island and secure all points.

Objective:

Fly around the island and check that all is safe and secure.

Orders:

Take off from St Helena FACP (Forward Air command Post) (FHSH) and route clockwise around the island.

Check out Jamestown and the rest of the installations on the island, including the wind generators on the top of the island.

Once complete, route back to the FACP, and land.

Flight Details:

Date: 12 September 2017.
Take off time: 18h00Z.
Departure: FACP St Helena (FHSH).
Arrival: FACP St Helena (FHSH).
Equipment: A109/Oryx.
Rules: VFR as required.
Weather: Unknown
Fuel load: As required for the distance, plus reserves.
Distance: Approximately 35Nm.
Leg Time: Approximately 1:30 hours.
Time: Daylight.
Route: FHSH, around St Helena, FHSH.
Comms: 122.80 and ATC where available.
Lost Procedure: You cannot get lost: it is impossible: it is such a small island..
VOR/NDB: VOR: SH, 113.10. NDB: ST, 325.0, ZHH, 393.0.
