On Line Evening 21 February 2017

by Phantom » 19 Feb 2017, 21:03

The Ops Department has received very reliable ELINT of a flotilla of unknown submarines that are operating some 300 Nm south west of Cape Town, in the area of 3916S. Enquiries have been made through all the usual Diplomatic Channels to all the major countries, but no one has taken ownership of any supposed activities in the area.
There is definite proof of activity, as Satellite photos would indicate some strange movements in the area in question.
Over the past week it has been determined that the flotilla is moving closer to South African waters. A decision was taken late yesterday evening by the Chief of Defence to mobilise aircraft to investigate. An AWACS E3CF Recon aircraft, on loan to the SAVAF, has been placed on high alert at AFB Langebaan to scramble and route to the area to report on the supposed activities. A Squadron of SAVAF fighter/bombers are also on high alert scramble status at AFB Langebaan to assist as required.

Proceed to area 3916S to determine any activity, and neutralise any threats if detected.

An AWACS Recon/Airborne Control and Command aircraft is to scramble from AFB Langebaan at 17h15z and route towards position 3616S, where the last activity was reported via satellite.
On orders from the AWACS, the Fighter/ bomber Squadron will scramble and route to the area as directed by the AWACS Command Post.
Fighter/Bomber Squadron will route approximately heading 222*, FL360 and Mach 1.20 to position 3916S, until directed otherwise by AWACS.
Locate the flotilla, and perform the necessary actions.
Once complete, the Fighter/Bomber Squadron will formate on the AWACS to provide escort, and recover to AFB Overberg, route approximately 062*, FL 370 and Mach 0.92.
It has been noted that this flotilla are on the surface during the early hours of the day, usually around sunrise. In order to maintain an element of surprise, the interdiction should occur at around 03h30z. Time over Target will therefore be at 03h30z.
